Welcome

Dear colleagues,

After the forced break due to corona pandemics, we now want to resume the 10-year tradition of nephrogenetics workshops.

There is a lot of new news to report, because development has continued at a rapid pace. An essential factor for clinical practice is the fact that molecular genetic diagnostics have now been widely adopted in a wide variety of guidelines. We will reflect on this comprehensively here. And its importance will continue to grow. We will also discuss this.

Another important point is the changes in medical care that have arisen against the background of the ever-widening use of artificial intelligence. Molecular genetic diagnostics have been closely linked to bioinformatics from the very beginning, and it is therefore not surprising that AI has quickly gained a foothold here too. In some areas, it is impossible to imagine life without it. But we will show here how artificial intelligence is also increasingly reaching everyday clinical practice.

A real revolution in molecular genetic diagnostics is on the way with the 3rd generation of sequencing technology. This not only makes it possible to sequence extremely long DNA strands one after the other and thus also to detect larger rearrangements. This technology also allows native DNA and RNA to be examined with all their modifications. This opens up completely new possibilities in medical diagnostics. Questions that people previously did not dare to ask can now be addressed.

We hope that the current program will attract a wide range of interest from clinically active nephrologists.

The organizers
